To accelerate the investigation into the murder of 35-year-old Alessandro Venier in Gemona (Udine) – where he was killed and dismembered – the victim’s mother, 61-year-old Lorena Venier, underwent questioning by Deputy Prosecutor Giorgio Milillo late last night. Sources indicate this was only the first phase of interrogation, set to resume this morning.
Once formal testimony is secured, authorities will proceed with obtaining statements from the victim’s partner, 30-year-old Colombian national Mylin Castro Monsalvo, likely later today.
Venier’s dismembered body was discovered in three pieces inside a barrel covered with quicklime. Special fire brigade equipment was required to remove the container yesterday. The reassembled remains were transferred to a morgue for autopsy.
Forensic teams continue examinations today at the Taboga district residence on Gemona’s outskirts. Regardless of testimonies, investigators aim to reconstruct the murder’s exact circumstances and identify the killing site. The barrel was found in a carport adjacent to the house.
No obvious blood traces have been detected inside, as the victim’s mother and partner meticulously cleaned the premises following the murder – believed to have occurred between late last week and early this week. Initial evidence suggests they may have planned to dispose of the body entirely.
