A 59-year-old woman died overnight when flames engulfed her apartment on Via Benedetto Secondo in Locate Triulzi, near Milan. The blaze erupted around 4:30 a.m.
Milan firefighters discovered the victim’s body after responding with five emergency vehicles. Rescuers confirmed her death at the scene. Authorities noted the woman lived alone in the residence.
As a precaution, the building was initially evacuated. Residents returned to their homes this morning, though the victim’s upper-floor unit remains uninhabitable due to fire damage.
Safety operations and cleanup by emergency crews are expected to continue for several hours. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
