On the eve of the ‘Bridging Destinations’ Italy-Balkans Forum opening tomorrow in Rome, Italian Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè and her Greek counterpart, Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni, signed a Protocol implementing the Tourism Cooperation Agreement between Italy and Greece.
The document updates the 1986 intergovernmental agreement and aims to bolster tourism development through collaboration in several key areas. These include institutional cooperation, the exchange of information and best practices concerning statistics, policies, regulations, investments, and tourism promotion, alongside innovation, digitalization, education, and vocational training.
According to a statement from the Italian Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), the Protocol was signed following a productive meeting where the ministers deepened discussions on cooperation, the exchange of experiences within the European Union framework, and themes central to the upcoming first tourism forum between Italy and the countries of the Adriatic-Ionian and Balkan region.
“I express my great satisfaction for the excellent relations and the alignment of views between myself and Minister Kefalogianni, further strengthened and formalized through this Protocol,” stated Santanchè. “This document will be a strategic tool to enhance and integrate initiatives already underway, with the goal of presenting an increasingly rich and diversified tourism offering on international markets.”
