This potential disruption stems from the transfer of presiding judge Roberto Spanó, who has chosen to move to the civil division of Brescia’s court effective September 8th.
Spanó, a magistrate linked to major local criminal cases over recent decades and Brescia’s judicial affairs since the 1990s, opted for the transfer following the Superior Council of the Judiciary’s (CSM) recent initiation of proceedings to relocate deputy prosecutor Roberta Panico due to incompatibility.
