The family lawyer of Simona Cinà, the 20-year-old volleyball player found dead in a Bagheria villa pool last night, has raised serious concerns about the circumstances of her death. Attorney Gabriele Giambrone, a criminal lawyer representing the family, stated there are “too many things that don’t add up” and demanded an urgent autopsy.
Giambrone questioned how no one noticed Simona was dead in the water for an extended period, despite the pool being small and the villa full of young people. He highlighted the victim was found face up, a position inconsistent with a simple fall, and challenged why no one saw the body if she had become ill while swimming.
Simona’s parents, alarmed when she hadn’t returned home by 4:50 AM, called her phone. A young man answered, stating she was unwell. Rushing to the graduation party venue, the parents discovered their daughter deceased. Emergency services (118) were reportedly called around 4:00 AM. Simona’s best friend had left her at the pool party at 3:00 AM, leaving the hour in between unexplained.
“We urgently requested the autopsy,” stated Giambrone, who arrived at dawn to find dozens of youths still awaiting police questioning. He expressed disbelief that “no one saw or heard anything,” especially as some guests were still wet, indicating recent pool use.
The lawyer also found the scene investigators encountered puzzling. “The house was clean, with no trace of alcohol,” he explained, calling this strange given a WhatsApp invitation promising hydration with alcoholic beverage symbols. Only plastic bags containing empty water bottles were found upon his arrival. Giambrone emphasized Simona was health-conscious, attentive to her diet, and a non-drinker, asking, “What happened to her?”
Meanwhile, one young man who attended the pool party, organized by two recent graduates, was taken to the police station for DNA sampling. Investigators found traces of blood in the villa. The youth reportedly claimed he kicked an object in shock upon hearing of the tragedy, injuring himself. Authorities are investigating the blood evidence as inquiries continue.
