The rightful owner of a snake recovered by firefighters in Trento came forward at the city’s Permanent Fire Department Command center early this afternoon. After verification of ownership, the reptile was returned.
The corn snake, initially found seeking refuge in a courtyard at Via Gramsci 42 yesterday evening, was secured by Trento’s Permanent Fire Department. They had been holding the animal pending identification of its owner or arrangements for suitable housing following expert consultation.
A couple walking their dog spotted the snake at approximately 9:50 PM and alerted authorities, prompting immediate response from firefighters.
Preliminary identification suggests the snake is a non-venomous corn snake, a constrictor species. Typically reaching lengths of up to 1.5 meters while weighing under half a kilogram, this popular pet is known for its docile nature, ease of care in a terrarium, and diet primarily consisting of small rodents.
