On August 2nd, 45 years ago, Italy endured one of the darkest chapters in its history. Terrorism struck the city of Bologna with savage brutality, shattering the central train station in a bombing that claimed 85 lives and injured over 200 people. “Today we stand with the victims’ families and all citizens of Bologna, sharing their grief and their demand for justice,” stated Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
“The government will continue its work to uncover the full truth concerning the massacres that devastated the nation in the post-war period,” Meloni concluded. “This includes our commitment, alongside other competent administrations, to declassify documents and deposit them with the Central State Archive, pursued in a spirit of cooperation with the victims’ families associations.”
