Five Star Movement leader Giuseppe Conte commemorated the 45th anniversary of the Bologna train station massacre on social media, honoring victims’ families who “never gave up” in the quest for truth. The 1980 neo-fascist bombing claimed 85 lives, injured over 200, and devastated countless families with grief.
Conte explicitly attributed the attack to “neo-fascists, with the complicit betrayal of state apparatuses, devised by the leaders of the P2 lodge”. He called on institutional representatives at all levels to act decisively when confronting this and other tragic chapters in Italy’s history.
“To honor the victims,” Conte urged, “the best way is to do everything possible to ensure justice is served and the full truth is told about Italy’s most tragic moments, preventing the continued spread of half-truths, convenient narratives, and uncertain reconstructions.”
