Following the nurse from Sores FVG, two of the three firefighters under investigation for the deaths of Patrizia Cormos, Bianca Doros, and Cristian Molnar—killed by the sudden flooding of the Natisone River on May 31, 2024—have requested immediate judgment, waiving their preliminary hearing scheduled for September 19. Defense attorney Stefano Buonocore confirmed this to ANSA, explaining the decision: “We aim to prevent the Udine court from holding two trials for such a complex case. Above all, we seek to spare witnesses, particularly the victims’ families, from enduring the grueling process of testifying twice. It is in everyone’s interest that the trial remains unified and concludes in a single proceeding.”
The third firefighter is expected to file an identical request by next week. Should this occur, the trial for all defendants will commence on November 17.
