Police in Genoa, coordinated by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office, arrested a 34-year-old Nigerian man this morning as the alleged perpetrator of a fatal stabbing in Turin on the evening of July 30th. The suspect stands accused of murdering a fellow Nigerian national on Corso Giulio Cesare in the Dora Vanchiglia district.
Investigators determined the attack, involving multiple knife wounds to the victim’s torso and abdomen, stemmed from an altercation linked to drug trafficking.
Turin’s Flying Squad identified the suspect through area surveillance footage, eyewitness accounts, and additional investigative work. A search of the man’s Turin residence uncovered blood-stained clothing worn during the crime.
An arrest warrant was issued on August 1st, two days after the killing. Police discovered the suspect had fled Turin hours after the attack, traveling to Genoa. Consequently, the Turin Flying Squad, assisted by Genoa counterparts, located and apprehended him in an apartment in the Marassi area, where he was being hosted by a compatriot.
The suspect presented a visible cut on his left forearm, which investigators believe he sustained with high probability during the stabbing incident.
