Two firefighting squads from Pisa responded to a vegetation fire in Santa Luce municipality, located in the Val di Cecina area approximately 40 km from Pisa. The blaze consumed 7 hectares of hilly terrain, devastating cultivated fields, olive groves, reed beds, scrubland, and mature trees.
Firefighters deployed two tanker trucks, an off-road forest fire unit, and a water tanker to combat flames near Pastina hamlet. After initial containment efforts, crews extinguished the fire—aided by two helicopters and civil protection volunteers—despite rapid wind-driven spread.
Clean-up operations are now underway. Forest rangers remain on-site conducting investigations to determine the fire’s origin.
