The long-standing issue of “invisible eligibles” (idonei-invisibili) in Italy’s school system appears resolved with the removal of a blockage stalling teacher hiring rankings.
As confirmed by the Idonei 2020 movement in a statement, Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara recently met with teacher representatives during advanced stages of permanent hiring procedures. The movement announced that Minister Valditara’s intervention successfully overcame the freeze on advancement within the 2020 teacher competition rankings (Concorsi 498/499) for candidates declared eligible and ready to begin service.
The statement noted extensive negotiations and critical procedural steps led to a gradual increase in certainty, culminating in the rankings advancement starting last year. Notably, Tuscany has already exhausted the entire merit-based ranking list for Primary School positions. The current PNRR-funded competition phase is nearing completion, with the final round scheduled for imminent announcement. The movement emphasized this forthcoming competition will not deprive eligible candidates from the 2020 competitions of their right to advance in the rankings.
