A 70-year-old man suffered a sudden medical emergency late last night inside a car wash on Via Taddeo da Sessa in eastern Naples. According to Carabinieri officers who responded to the scene, the man’s 45-year-old son confronted arriving ambulance medics with a rifle, demanding they transport his father to the Policlinico hospital instead. The ambulance ultimately departed, transporting the elderly patient to the Ospedale del Mare.
Carabinieri from Naples’s Radio Mobile Unit intervened at the hospital. They identified and arrested the son, who had allegedly brandished the weapon. Officers later recovered an air rifle from a locker within the car wash. The suspect, who authorities confirmed is a nurse by profession, has been placed under house arrest.
