Russian forces attacked Ukraine overnight using 27 missiles and 208 drones, including Shahed suicide models, according to the Kyiv Air Force. Ukrainian defenses successfully intercepted or electronically neutralized 183 drones and 17 missiles, with debris from downed drones landing in eight locations.
Local authorities reported casualties: two people were killed and five injured in the eastern city of Dnipro, while three others were wounded in the northeastern city of Kharkiv. The attacks also triggered fires in southeastern Zaporizhzhia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky detailed the assault on Telegram, stating, “Last night, the Russians launched a combined attack: missiles, including ballistic ones, and drones. They hit the line between the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipro regions.” He confirmed casualties, saying, “There are injured due to the Russian attack. Unfortunately, there are also fatalities. My condolences to them.” Zelensky vowed continued retaliation, asserting, “There can be no silence in response to Russian attacks, and Ukrainian long-range drones guarantee that there won’t be.” He emphasized, “Russian military facilities, Russian logistics, Russian airfields must feel that Russia’s war has real consequences for them. The precision of our drones and the regularity of Ukrainian responses are among the factors that will certainly bring peace closer.”
Meanwhile, authorities in Russia’s southwestern Rostov region, cited by the Tass news agency, stated that two people died in a Ukrainian drone attack. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed its air defenses shot down 54 Ukrainian drones overnight over the regions of Bryansk, Rostov, Oryol, Tula, and Belgorod, as well as Crimea, the Sea of Azov, and the Black Sea.
