Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala is taking a day of reflection at home today and will not be at Palazzo Marino, the city hall headquarters. This follows three consecutive days of non-stop meetings at the Palazzo with representatives from his supporting parties, chiefly the Democratic Party (PD), and the Councillor for Urban Regeneration, Giancarlo Tancredi. The meetings occurred after the latest developments in the urban planning investigations, which have implicated Sala as a suspect.
Prosecutors have requested house arrest for Councillor Tancredi. No further meetings are currently scheduled. Mayor Sala is preparing to address the City Council on Monday. Tancredi’s resignation is highly likely to be announced during that session. Sala himself is reportedly considering stepping down. The investigation has deeply affected him due to the accusations, which he firmly rejects.
