Universal’s “Jurassic World: Rebirth” retained its box office crown in Italy during the latest weekend, grossing €1.68 million ($1.8 million). The seventh installment in the franchise, directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey, has now amassed €7.2 million ($7.7 million) over two weeks. It outperformed the debut of Warner Bros.’ superhero reboot “Superman”, directed by James Gunn and featuring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel. The film secured second place with €2 million ($2.14 million) over its first five days.
Joseph Kosinski’s Formula 1 action film “F1”, starring Brad Pitt as a veteran driver returning to aid his struggling team, dropped to third. It added €448,273 ($479,000), bringing its three-week total to €4.5 million ($4.8 million). “Dragon Trainer” slid to fourth, earning €285,783 ($306,000) for a cumulative €8.3 million ($8.9 million). Disney/Pixar’s “Elio” held fifth with €195,835 ($209,000), surpassing €2 million ($2.14 million) after four weeks.
The enduring hit “Lilo & Stitch” placed sixth with €152,921 ($163,000), nearing a massive €22 million ($23.5 million) total. Danny Boyle’s sequel “28 Years Later” landed seventh, adding €67,504 ($72,000) to reach €1.55 million ($1.66 million).
New entries filled the next spots: the horror film “I Play Mother” debuted eighth with €48,763 ($52,000), followed closely by the children’s adventure “Paul – A Penguin to Save” in ninth with €29,996 ($32,000). Paolo Genovese’s record-breaking romantic comedy “FolleMente” climbed to tenth, earning €29,629 ($32,000) and approaching €18 million ($19.3 million) after an exceptional 21-week run.
Overall weekend box office reached €4.99 million ($5.3 million), marking a 19% decline from the previous week but a significant 61.84% increase compared to the same weekend in 2023.
