Foreign ministers from 26 nations have issued a united declaration stating: “We, the undersigned, are united by a simple and urgent message: the war in Gaza must end now.” Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani joined counterparts from the UK, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland in signing the statement. EU Commissioner for Equality, Belgian-Algerian Hadja Lahbib, also endorsed the appeal.
The document rejects any forced demographic changes in both the Gaza Strip and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories. It demands an immediate halt to new settlement expansions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, while reaffirming support for the Arab Peace Initiative.
Signatories simultaneously called for the unconditional release of all Israeli hostages held by Hamas and urged an end to restrictions hampering the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza’s civilian population, which faces extreme deprivation.
