The Ibiza Rocks Hotel has cancelled scheduled music events after the deaths of two young British men within two weeks of each other, reports The Guardian. Gary Kelly, 19, a professional ice hockey player for the Dundee Stars, died at the hotel on Monday. This follows the death of another Scottish tourist, Evan Thomson, 26, who died on July 7 after falling within the hotel premises. The hotel, which also operates as an outdoor music venue, suspended its planned events program citing “the gravity of the situation and out of respect for those affected.” Performances by rapper Dizzee Rascal this week and drum’n’bass band Rudimental on July 30 were among the cancelled events. The hotel did not specify the total number of events called off. Thomson’s mother paid tribute to her son in a social media post, writing: “I am deeply saddened to tell you that at the beginning of this week my son Evan had a tragic accident whilst on holiday with friends in Ibiza and has sadly passed away… We are all completely devastated.”
