The French Jewish tourist who reported and filmed an assault at a highway rest stop near Milan stated he received “heartening expressions of solidarity from the Jewish world that warmed my heart,” but also faced a wave of “online hate and violent messages targeting me and my son.” “I received antisemitic insults,” he told ANSA, “saying I should have a tattoo on my arm, that I am responsible for genocide.”
The man reports feeling better but will take his six-year-old son, who was present, “to a psychologist because he didn’t react; he froze in fear.” He added he is unaware of any reactions within Italy. “In France, only one MP called me and contacted the French consulate in Milan,” he said, expressing satisfaction that investigations have commenced in Italy.
