Calabria Governor Roberto Occhiuto stated he was “satisfied and also very relieved” following his nearly four-hour interrogation by prosecutors in Catanzaro. Speaking to journalists after the session, Occhiuto, who is under investigation for corruption, declared, “I think I have clarified everything.”
The Governor thanked the Prosecutor’s Office, noting that he had personally requested the interrogation. “It was my right to ask the magistrates, but it was not their duty to grant me this possibility,” Occhiuto added. He confirmed waiving formal deadlines for challenging the allegations.
“I believe I have clarified every charge,” Occhiuto stated, expressing confidence in “a very swift dismissal of the case.” He emphasized this outcome was needed “not only in my interest but also in the interest of the Region, which must be administered with serenity.” The questioning was conducted by Deputy Prosecutor Giancarlo Novelli and Assistant Prosecutor Domenico Assumma.
