Thieves targeted the Rome residence of the widow of famed Italian singer Domenico Modugno. Exploiting the homeowner’s absence, the intruders forced open a French window at the property in the Appia Antica district, gained entry, and stole a safe. The caretaker discovered the break-in and promptly alerted emergency services (112). Carabinieri from the local station responded to the scene, conducted an initial investigation, and are now working on the case. Authorities are reviewing surveillance camera footage to aid the investigation. The value of the stolen items has yet to be determined.
