A man’s body was recovered this morning off the coast of Crotone by a Coast Guard patrol boat during routine surveillance. Authorities suspect it may be Pasquale Donnaloia, 67, one of two boaters from Taranto missing since June 29. Preliminary photographic identification has reportedly been conducted.
Relatives are en route to Crotone with Taranto Port Authority personnel for formal confirmation. The discovery relates to four individuals who failed to return from a boating excursion.
The day after their disappearance, the body of Claudio Donnaloia, 73—Pasquale’s brother—was retrieved off Bernalda. Within 24 hours, the corpse of 60-year-old Domenico Lanzolla was also recovered nearby. Marine currents are believed to have carried Pasquale Donnaloia’s remains toward Crotone; he had joined the trip last-minute despite not planning to depart.
The fourth missing individual, 61-year-old Antonio dell’Amura, remains unaccounted for. Searches by the Port Authority, Financial Police, and Fire Brigade continue in the Gulf of Taranto—extending to Basilicata and Calabria—though aerial assets have been scaled back.
