Andrea Cavallari, convicted for the Corinaldo massacre and an escapee since July 3rd, was apprehended around 10:00 AM on Tuesday as he prepared to leave a hotel in Lloret de Mar, a popular tourist resort on Spain’s Catalan coast. Cavallari had been staying at the hotel under a false identity with forged documents, according to investigative sources from the Barcelona police cited by ANSA. Barcelona police, working closely with Italian Carabinieri, ended the manhunt for the fugitive. Cavallari, who had been sighted in Barcelona last weekend, had moved on to Lloret de Mar. He was unarmed at the time of his arrest but was found carrying a significant amount of counterfeit banknotes; authorities are currently investigating the source of the fake currency.
