Italy’s public debt decreased by €10 billion in May, settling at €3,053.5 billion, according to calculations released by the Bank of Italy. The data, published in the statistical supplement “Public Finance: Deficit and Debt,” shows a reduction in national liabilities. Additionally, tax revenues for the first five months of 2024—calculated on a cash basis—reached €213.5 billion, marking a 3.3% year-on-year increase (€6.8 billion) compared to the same period in 2023.
