A 25-year-old Cuban national has been arrested by State Police in Monza, Italy, on charges of aggravated sexual violence against a 13-year-old girl. The minor met the man on Instagram and agreed to meet him believing he was 17 years old.
The arrest occurred on Friday, July 11th, following intensive investigative efforts. The victim herself called emergency services (112) after the attack. Officers from the Flying Squad (Squadra Mobile), responding immediately to the girl’s home in Monza, activated the “Code Red” protocol for gender-based violence.
The meeting took place on July 10th, when the man arranged to meet the girl at Monza train station. She agreed on the condition they would not be alone. However, once at the station, he persuaded her to accompany him to an isolated area near the Villoresi canal. It was only then that he revealed his true age.
When the 13-year-old resisted, he forced her to endure a sexual assault. As she tried to flee, the assailant threatened her with a knife. He subsequently accompanied her back to Monza station.
