Lazio Region President Francesco Rocca has signed an urgent ordinance to prevent the spread of the West Nile virus. The order mandates that municipalities within the region experiencing active viral circulation must immediately implement extraordinary vector control interventions. This includes prioritizing disinfestation activities, as directed by the competent local health authorities. The Zooprophylactic Institute of Lazio and Tuscany will collaborate, verifying the activities undertaken to facilitate funding disbursement. The Lazio Region confirmed that financing for these measures will be provided through extraordinary economic resources allocated via a specific resolution of the Regional Council.
