Postal Workers Save Elderly Woman, Receive Grateful Bouquet

A mail carrier arrived at the Naples Central Station post office counter bearing an extraordinary delivery: a beautiful bouquet of flowers accompanied by a note reading, “Thank you for saving my life.” Cesira Barone, director of the Via Casanova post office, recounted the heartwarming conclusion to a near-tragic incident.

“Last week around 11:30 a.m.,” Barone explained, “our longtime customer Anna, 80, entered the office visibly exhausted by the relentless heat. She suddenly collapsed, stating she felt unwell.” Staff immediately alerted emergency services while trained personnel administered first aid as the woman appeared to lose consciousness.

“We laid her down, elevated her legs, and I held her hand to reassure her—she was terrified,” the director continued. An ambulance transported Anna to the hospital, where she recovered after several days. Upon returning home, her first thought was for the postal workers. “I sent a small gift to thank the staff, especially the director who never left my side,” Anna said. “She comforted me, ensured doctors cared for me, and made certain my son was waiting at the hospital. Without her, I’d have felt lost.”

The gesture deeply moved the employees. “When we saw the flowers and learned Anna was home, spontaneous applause broke out,” Barone stated. “We called to thank her and jokingly insisted we’ll only visit when temperatures drop by at least 20 degrees.”
