Celso Valli, the acclaimed Bolognese composer, arranger, and record producer who created original arrangements for Italy’s biggest pop stars including Eros Ramazzotti, Laura Pausini, Gianni Morandi, and Vasco Rossi, has died at the age of 75.
The announcement of his passing was made by Eros Ramazzotti via social media. “Celso, I will miss you, maestro,” the artist wrote in an Instagram story, adding, “Goodbye Celso, another giant who leaves us.”
Born in Bologna on May 14, 1950, Valli graduated in piano from the “Giovanni Battista Martini” Conservatory. He launched his career as a keyboardist and driving force in a jazz band. From the 1980s onwards, he collaborated extensively with iconic figures such as Mina, Gianni Morandi, Raf, Matia Bazar, Claudio Baglioni, Vasco Rossi, Eros Ramazzotti, Laura Pausini, Giorgia, Andrea Bocelli, Il Volo, Renato Zero, and Jovanotti.
Valli served as an orchestra conductor for numerous editions of the Sanremo Festival, most recently in 2023 alongside Ultimo and Eros Ramazzotti.
