A head-on collision on the A4 Turin-Milan highway has resulted in four fatalities and one critically injured person. The crash occurred between the Novara Est and Marcallo Mesero exits in the Milan province, as confirmed by emergency service 118.
Highway police from Novara Est, responsible for that stretch of motorway, are at the scene working to determine the precise sequence of events.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a car driven by a 70-year-old man, who died in the incident, entered the highway traveling in the wrong direction. His vehicle collided head-on with another car carrying four occupants. Three individuals in this second vehicle were killed. The fourth passenger was airlifted in critical condition by helicopter to Niguarda Hospital in Milan.
