Bologna Teen’s Defense Seeks Crime Scene Reconstruction in Homicide Case

Defense lawyers for a 16-year-old Italian boy accused of killing his peer, Fallou Sall, have requested a judicial reconstruction at the Bologna crime scene. The request, filed with the city’s Juvenile Court, aims to evaluate witness conduct and clarify the events of September 4, 2024, on Via Piave, where Sall died. The minor faces trial under ordinary criminal procedures.

The defendant also stands accused of the attempted murder of Fallou’s 17-year-old Bangladeshi friend. That teenager, separately charged with assault and phone harassment against the main defendant, has been granted probationary rehabilitation, leading to the suspension of his case.

“The judicial reconstruction is a means of evidence, like testimony,” explained defense attorney Pietro Gabriele. “Its form depends on the objectives sought. In this instance, an on-site visit is essential.” The court panel, led by President Gabriella Tomai, may rule on the request during the next scheduled hearing on September 17.

Investigators previously determined that a verbal altercation occurred between the 16-year-old and the 17-year-old Bangladeshi on August 31. On September 4, the pair clashed physically. The Italian teen reportedly fled towards home, pursued by several individuals, including Fallou Sall who intervened to aid the 17-year-old. The defendant claims he was tackled, then pulled a knife and struck blindly in self-defense, fatally wounding Fallou in the heart and injuring the 17-year-old in the neck. Prosecutors, however, have charged the act as voluntary homicide.
