Pope Leo XIV Concludes Summer Break, Returns to Vatican Schedule

Pope Leo XIV spent his final day of rest at the Villa Barberini in Castel Gandolfo on Wednesday, concluding a stay that began on July 6th. The Pontiff returns to the Vatican today and will resume audiences and engagements in the coming days, albeit at a reduced pace.

His schedule includes receiving Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Thursday and leading the Angelus prayer from the Apostolic Palace overlooking St. Peter’s Square on Sunday. The Wednesday General Audience remains suspended this week, with its resumption scheduled for July 30.

Pope Leo XIV will return to Castel Gandolfo on Friday, August 15th. He will celebrate Mass at the Pontifical Parish of Castel Gandolfo at 10:00 AM, followed by the Angelus prayer in Piazza della Libertà at noon. He will again lead the Angelus in Piazza della Libertà on Sunday, August 17th at noon.

Meanwhile, renovation work continues on the papal apartment in the Apostolic Palace at the Vatican. An official date for the Pope’s return to the residence has not yet been announced.

Separately, the Vatican will host the Jubilee for Digital Missionaries and Catholic Influencers on July 28th and 29th. This significant Jubilee calendar event features two intensive days of discussions and dialogue at the Auditorium della Conciliazione. There is a possibility the Pope may schedule an audience with the participants.
