Davide Bordoni, regional secretary of the far-right League party (Lega) in Lazio, has formally filed a police complaint following the vandalism of party posters promoting the Security Decree in Rome’s San Lorenzo neighborhood, near the entrance of La Sapienza University.
The incident, captured in a circulating social media video, shows two youths using paint rollers and a bucket of red paint to deface two large League billboards. One poster stated: “Block a road for workers? You end up in jail.” The other read: “Occupy a house? We throw you out in 24 hours.”
League leader Matteo Salvini had previously condemned the act on Facebook, announcing the impending legal action. “The stupidity of the comrades strikes again,” Salvini stated alongside the video. “In Rome, steps from La Sapienza University, they defaced our legally placed, paid posters about the Security Decree – a measure we strongly championed that finally restores homes to rightful owners. Clearly, some side with illegal squatters, not decent citizens. If they think this will stop or intimidate us, we send them a kiss.”
The League confirmed the formal complaint was lodged today. The party also announced plans to replace the vandalized posters and launch another extensive poster campaign across Rome in the coming weeks.
