The Perugia Public Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing events tied to the assisted suicide of Laura Santi but currently shows no indication of opening a formal investigation. Preliminary assessments suggest the procedure adhered to parameters established by Italy’s Constitutional Court, according to ANSA sources.
Prosecutor Raffaele Cantone’s office reportedly received advance notification of the suicide, though this detail remains unconfirmed.
Earlier this year, the Prosecutor’s Office had initiated proceedings following a complaint from Santi regarding procedural delays—a case prosecutors previously sought to dismiss. After opposition from the Coscioni association, authorities ordered further evidentiary investigations and document collection in February 2024.
A separate proceeding was later opened, reportedly in recent months, also based on a formal complaint submitted by Santi.
