A 47-year-old man died after exiting his vehicle following an initial collision, climbing a guardrail, and being struck by an oncoming car in the opposite lane on Highway 13 near Trieste. The incident occurred late last night at kilometer marker 3+600 between Sistiana and Sgonico, heading towards Venice.
Trieste Traffic Police are investigating the precise sequence of events. Reports indicate the victim was hit and dragged approximately 70 meters. The first crash he was involved in was not considered serious.
A young woman was driving the vehicle that struck the man. She was transported to the hospital for checks while in a state of shock. Firefighters, medical personnel dispatched by the Sores FVG regional operations center, and Anas FVG road maintenance workers also responded to the scene.
