Mailyn Castro Monsalvo reportedly confessed to the Italian Carabinieri upon their arrival at the villa, to which they had been alerted by the woman herself. Following her initial statement, she subsequently fell into a silence, interpreted by authorities as an expression of a pre-existing depression that was severely aggravated by the murder. The crime was committed alongside her mother-in-law, Lorena Venier, and the victim was Venier’s son, who was also Castro Monsalvo’s partner. The Carabinieri also secured a detailed audio confession from Lorena Venier, a 26-minute and 10-second recording made via mobile phone and later transferred to a digital format. According to documents related to the charges, the preliminary investigations judge (GIP) has deemed this recording “fully admissible” as evidence.
