Swastikas, Celtic crosses, and insults greeted volunteers when they arrived at the PD’s “Festa dell’Unità” in Schiranna, Varese, this afternoon. The venue, where party secretary Elly Schlein is expected this evening, was found defaced following an overnight vandalism attack.
One volunteer, who was part of the team cleaning the smeared tents, explained that a Che Guevara flag was also stolen during the raid. The overnight break-in has not been claimed, but the presence of swastikas, Celtic crosses, and hostile slogans left little doubt about the far-right origins of the assault.
“We stayed until late last night, and there was nothing there. This is unacceptable, but we are not afraid,” commented provincial PD secretary Alice Bernardoni. “We are anti-fascists, and those who do these things are wasting their time.”
