The pace of job growth in the United States was likely significantly weaker than initially reported from the start of 2024, according to a preliminary revision of data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The revised estimates indicate the US created 911,000 fewer jobs in the 12-month period ending in March than previously stated. If confirmed, this revision would slash the average monthly job growth rate for the period from approximately 147,000 jobs per month to just 71,000.
