U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared in a Fox News interview that President Donald Trump has established the groundwork for a potential peace agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but cautioned that “there will be concessions” leaving “no one happy.”
Hegseth stated, “President Trump has already changed the rules of the game. He created the conditions for a possible peaceful resolution—his objective from the outset—on an exceedingly difficult battlefield. I don’t believe Vladimir Putin would have agreed to meet without feeling pressured.”
He further noted, “Territorial swaps could occur during negotiations. Concessions will be made. No one will be satisfied. But if anyone can achieve this, it’s President Trump.”
