Donald Trump has threatened to revoke the broadcast licenses of television networks he claims are “against me.” The former president stated, “I read somewhere that the networks are 97% against me… and yet I won easily, all 7 swing states” in 2024. “They only give me bad press. And yet they have a license,” he added. “I think that perhaps their license should be revoked.”
He specified that the decision “will be up to Brendan Carr,” the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and a close ally. “I think Brendan Carr is exceptional, he’s a patriot,” said Trump, who appointed him to the position. “He loves our country and he’s a tough guy. So we’ll see,” he told reporters.
Trump’s threat came one day after ABC suspended the broadcast of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ due to the host’s statements about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
