For the first time, Trenord is offering a historic train journey to Novara. On Sunday, September 14, the Lombard railway company will provide a round trip from Milan to the Piedmontese city aboard a 1920s convoy.
Comprised of first-class carriages dating back to 1924-1925 and fully restored vintage locomotives, the train will transport passengers back to the Roaring Twenties. They will travel on the cardinal red velvet seats of the first-class carriages, featuring wooden interiors. To welcome travelers, Trenord staff will be dressed in faithfully recreated period uniforms, making the experience even more immersive.
The itinerary for Sunday, September 14 includes a departure from Milan Cadorna at 9:40 AM and an arrival at Novara Nord at 12:10 PM. The train will stop at Saronno, departing from there at 10:30 AM. Between 2:45 PM and 3:30 PM, one of the train’s carriages will be open for visits from enthusiasts and the curious at Novara Nord station. Access will be free and no reservation is required. The return journey from Novara Nord will depart at 3:51 PM, arriving in Saronno at 5:33 PM and finally at Milan Cadorna at 6:49 PM.
A special ticket for the initiative covers the historic train journey between Milan and Novara, plus the round trip on Trenord trains from anywhere in Lombardy to Milan or Saronno. The journey is free for children up to 13 years of age.
