A technical committee convened by Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini met at the Ministry of Transport (MIT) to discuss the feasibility of a new high-speed rail stop in the Frosinone area along the Rome-Naples High-Speed/Capacity line. The meeting, strongly supported by local authorities, was attended by officials from the MIT, as well as representatives from RFI, Trenitalia, and Italian State Railways (Ferrovie dello Stato).
Also present were the President of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, along with regional councilors Fabrizio Ghera and Giuseppe Schiboni; the Secretary of the V Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Nicola Ottaviani; the President of Frosinone Province, Luca Di Stefano; the Mayor of Frosinone, Riccardo Mastrangeli; the Mayor of Supino, Gianfranco Barletta; and the Mayor of Ferentino, Piergianni Fiorletta.
The meeting reviewed a pre-feasibility study conducted by RFI under a memorandum of understanding with the Lazio Region. The study evaluated three potential locations for the new station: Ferentino, Patrica, and Roccasecca (near the San Giovanni movement post).
A multicriteria analysis identified Ferentino as the best and most stable alternative. A cost-benefit analysis confirmed that the investment is economically and socially viable and will generate net benefits for the community.
The next steps involve an update of the cost and cost-benefit analyses. The committee will be reconvened by October for a preliminary update on the project’s progress.
