With his famous catchphrase, “Taaac!”, actor and comedian Renato Pozzetto reacted to being conferred honorary citizenship this evening by the town of Laveno Mombello. The lakeside town of just over 8,000 inhabitants on the shores of Lake Maggiore in the province of Varese is a place the iconic star of Italian comedy now calls home.
The entire municipal administration and numerous local residents were present in the Council Chamber to welcome Pozzetto, greeting him with a long round of applause during the ceremony. Mayor Luca Santagostino presented the honorary plaque, dubbing the comedian an “honorary Lavenese.” The bond between the comic and Laveno, and the entire Lake Maggiore area, is described as strong and deep-rooted. Scenes from Laveno Mombello and its lakeside landscapes feature prominently in many of Pozzetto’s films, including *Tre tigri contro tre tigri*, *Le Comiche*, and *Casa & Bottega*.
