Suspect Invokes Right to Silence in Milan Stabbing Case

José Bryan Vera Siguenza, the 30-year-old Ecuadorian national arrested for stabbing his former brother-in-law, has exercised his right to remain silent. The victim, 33-year-old Jefferson Garcia Jimenez, was killed during an altercation in Piazzale Ferrara, Milan, on the night of August 16th. A judge, Alberto Carboni, has validated the arrest and ordered the suspect to be held in pre-trial detention at San Vittore prison.

The testimony of the victim’s ex-partner—who is also the sister of the alleged attacker—was cited as decisive for reconstructing the events. She reported that she had argued with the victim, the father of her three children, over child custody on the very evening of the killing.
