Suspect in Foggia Woman’s Murder Arrested in Rome

Italian police have apprehended a man suspected of murdering his 46-year-old former partner in Foggia. The victim, a Moroccan national, was fatally stabbed near her home in the historic city center late last night. Authorities tracked the suspect to Rome where, sources report, he was found still wearing bloodstained clothing.

Residents alerted police after hearing the woman’s screams as she reportedly tried to escape her attacker. The victim lived alone and had previously filed a complaint against her ex-partner, also Moroccan, under Italy’s “Red Code” anti-violence protocol.

According to sources from the Foggia Prosecutor’s Office, a restraining order with an electronic monitoring bracelet had been issued against the man last May following the woman’s complaint. However, technical problems prevented the bracelet from being applied. This protective measure was escalated to a pre-trial detention order in July, but authorities were unable to locate the suspect to enforce it, as the man, legally residing in Italy, was homeless and untraceable.
