The processional tower for the Santa Rosa festival, designed by Raffaele Ascenzi, has been officially weighed at 5.088 metric tons. The measurement was taken this morning at San Sisto by the “Scorpione” Fourth Squadron Support Group of the Army Aviation, using specialized equipment. This operation is a mandatory safety check required before the transport of the structure, known as ‘the walking bell tower.’
Regulations stipulate that the machine must not exceed 5 metric tons, with a maximum tolerance of 5%, setting the acceptable weight limit at 5.25 metric tons. This year’s measurement revealed that the structure weighs one quintal (100 kg) less than it did the previous year.
