Salvini Calls for Overhaul of ISEE Criteria in Means-Tested Benefits

League leader Matteo Salvini announced that he has discussed the need to revise the rules governing the ISEE, the Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator used for means-tested benefits, with Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti. Speaking via video link at a UDC party event, Salvini stated that his party has brought the issue to the table for discussion within the majority coalition. He argued that a reform is necessary because, as the system currently operates, “all the bonuses too often always end up going to the same people.” The remarks were made in the context of ongoing preparations for the upcoming budget law.
