Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia’s choice of “ballistics over the negotiating table” was a clear response to international calls for a ceasefire. His comments, reported by the Kyiv Independent, came after a night of Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and other locations, which resulted in at least eight fatalities.
“These Russian attack missiles and drones today are a clear answer to everyone who, for weeks and months, has demanded a ceasefire and genuine diplomacy,” the President added.
Zelensky said he expects a reaction from China, which has “repeatedly called for not expanding the war and for reaching a ceasefire,” as well as from Hungary.
“We expect a response from everyone in the world who has called for peace, but who now often remain silent rather than take principled positions.”
