Rome Police Uncover Series of Violations at City Kiosks and Minimarkets

Local police in Rome have uncovered a series of violations during routine inspections of commercial establishments, aimed at enforcing regulations and protecting consumers. The checks, which were also conducted with the support of the State Police, took place yesterday.

Near Via Veneto, officers issued fines totaling approximately 11,000 euros to the operator of a kiosk only authorized to sell food products. The identified violations included the unauthorized expansion onto public land and the illegal sale of non-permitted goods, such as personal hygiene items and phone accessories. A significant quantity of expired or poorly preserved food was also discovered, including preserves, dried fruit, confectionery, and produce, alongside items lacking mandatory traceability and labeling.

Following the discovery of these violations, authorities seized approximately 80 kilograms of food products. A report has also been sent to the relevant municipal office for further action. Additional fines, exceeding 4,000 euros, were levied against a minimarket in the Monte Mario area, where approximately 20 kilograms of expired frozen and canned food items were confiscated.
