The Municipal Police of Rome are continuing their operations against illegal commercial activities across the city. In a widespread operation yesterday, officers from the First Central Unit carried out a series of interventions in various areas of the First District affected by the illicit trade. As reported by the police, over 10,000 illegally sold items were seized, and fines totaling approximately €15,000 were issued during the crackdown, which extended from the Termini station area to the streets and piazzas of the Historic Center.
During inspections that also included the Campo de’ Fiori market, patrols identified and fined a 21-year-old foreign national. The individual had set up an unauthorized jewelry stand containing over 3,000 articles, including jewelry and scarves, without the necessary permits for such activity. Around Termini station, officers conducted thorough checks on numerous unlicensed vendors, resulting in the seizure of more than 4,000 clothing items. The confiscated goods included jeans, t-shirts, trousers, shirts, and undergarments that were being sold illegally.
Checks were also conducted at Piazzale Ostiense, where a man was caught selling fruit directly from his truck. The vehicle’s sides were lowered, and price signs were displayed, all without any official authorization. The responsible individual was fined, and the perishable goods were seized and subsequently donated to charity.
