The city of Rome, Roma Capitale, has formally handed over the areas of the Santa Palomba industrial zone to the concessionaire RenewRome Srl for the construction of a waste-to-energy plant. The handover, which took place today, will allow preliminary works and site preparation to commence tomorrow, in accordance with the established project schedule. These initial activities will include archaeological surveys, checks for the potential presence of wartime ordnance, and the removal of pre-existing unauthorized structures.
In parallel, following standard legal procedures, the Commissioner’s Structure is processing the Paur (Regional Single Authorization Decree). This decree is required to complete the project’s authorization process and permit the start of the plant’s construction. The update was provided in an official communiqué from the Campidoglio, Rome’s city hall.
